Personal Use, Account Access, Passwords, and Security
LACOE eLibrary Services is available to Los Angeles County educators and administrators, and LACOE employees upon applying for an eLibrary Services library card. Registered users may not (and agree not to) use, copy, distribute, transmit, broadcast, sell, or do anything else with LACOE eLibrary Services for any other purpose.
In addition, LACOE eLibrary Services may include links to external websites of LACOE-recognized organizations consisting of parents and/or community members whose primary mission is to support Los Angeles County schools and the students who attend the schools and LACOE-recognized organizations established and authorized to raise money in the name of LACOE or Los Angeles County schools.
Neither this website nor any element within it, including, without limitation, text, logos, graphics, images, photographs, multimedia features, or other likenesses or materials, may be republished, reposted, retransmitted, or redistributed without the prior express written consent of LACOE eLibrary Services.
Unauthorized usage constitutes trademark and/or copyright infringement. LACOE eLibrary Services may seek legal remedy, including financial compensation, in all cases of unauthorized usage including use by authorized representatives of LACOE for unauthorized purposes.

Guidelines for Access to LACOE eLibrary Services
You will need an eLibrary Services library card in order to use LACOE eLibrary Services or access its collection(s). You may not use someone else's ID. When you are registering and verifying your account, you must give LACOE eLibrary Services accurate and complete information, including an educational email address. This means that you cannot set up an account using someone else's name or contact information, or a phony name or phony contact information. You have complete responsibility for your account and everything that happens on your account. This means you need to be careful with your ID and passwords. If you find out that someone is using your eLibrary Services account without your permission, you must let us know immediately. We are not liable for any damages or losses caused by someone else using your account. If we (or anyone else) suffer any damage due to the unauthorized use of your account, you may be liable.
Improper use of LACOE eLibrary Services is prohibited. Actual and attempted actions that constitute improper use of LACOE eLibrary Services include, but are not limited to, using the system to:
(1) abuse, intimidate, stalk, threaten or otherwise harass;
(2) transmit any content that is unlawful, harmful, threatening, harassing, defamatory, vulgar, invasive of another's privacy, hateful, incites violence or is otherwise objectionable;
(3) transmit any content that contains software viruses or any other harmful component or malicious code designed to interrupt, destroy or limit the functionality of the Portal;
(4) transmit any unsolicited or unauthorized advertising, promotional materials, junk mail, spam, chain letters or any other form of solicitation;
(5) impersonate any person or disguise the origin of any transmitted content;
(6) interfere with or disrupt the LACOE eLibrary Services system or servers or networks connected to the system;
(7) obtain resources beyond those authorized or engage in unauthorized entry into the LACOE eLibrary Services system;
(8) degrade the performance of the LACOE eLibrary Services system or cause a security risk;
(9) falsely state or otherwise misrepresent your identity or affiliation with a person;
(10) transmit any content that you do not have a right to transmit;
(11) access data or information when not authorized; and
(12) undertake LACOE eLibrary Services activity not in accordance with the intended purpose of LACOE eLibrary Services or the terms and conditions stated herein.
Use of LACOE eLibrary Services is also subject to the terms of LACOE’s Acceptable Use Policy.
YOU AGREE THAT LACOE WILL NOT BE LIABLE TO YOU FOR ANY LOSS OR DAMAGES, EITHER ACTUAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THESE TERMS, OR TO YOUR (OR ANY THIRD PARTY'S) USE OR INABILITY TO USE A SITE, OR TO YOUR PLACEMENT OF CONTENT ON A SITE, OR TO YOUR RELIANCE UPON INFORMATION OBTAINED FROM OR THROUGH A SITE. You agree that any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or any or the ownership, operation or maintenance of the LACOE eLibrary Services website, whether based in contract, tort, statutory or other law, will be governed by the laws of the State of California, excluding its conflicts of law provisions. You further consent to the personal jurisdiction of and exclusive venue in the federal and state courts located in and serving Los Angeles County, California as the legal forum for any such dispute.
